Causes of acne
Before we begin any treatment of acne it is wise for us to know what cause acne to make the treatment more effective
Over active of oil gland.
First we need to understand the basic of oil gland...
Oil gland or we can called sebaceous glands are located deep in the skin. Each of them connected with tiny hair call follicle. The gland produce the oil the to lubricate surrounding the skin . They usually vary in sizes . The bigger the oil gland is the bigger visible pore. The hormone that responsible for production of skin sebum is male hormone call androgen ( Women also have small amount of this hormone) That’s why men usually have oilier skin than women. These hormone are produced by testes in men and ovaries in women. It was produce by adrenal gland from both sexes . The hormonal change during puberty will usually cause the overactive of oil gland ("What Causes Acne?", [n.d.])
Blockage of the skin pores
Normally the oil will travel through hair follicles which help moisturize the skin and make it healthy, when the oil is produce too much it can result in oily skin . but when the oil that produce from sebaceous gland cannot flow throughout the pore due to the abnormal shedding of dead skin cell . This mean that the oil will trap under skin pore and become “ sticky” or solidify . This process of are call comedonegenesis . Which will result in black head or white head acne. Remember these are not due to poor hygiene but an over active oil glands .( Brannon, 2004)
Bacteria in the skin.
The bacteria that responsible for acne are called Propionibacterium acnes or P.acne, which is naturally stay under the skin of people. It use sebum in human as nutrient or food for them to survive. So people who have acne usually have the higher population of bacteria in the skin. This bacteria will alter the composition of oil as it take oil for nutrient which turn the natural skin sebum the be harmful which cause the skin irratation and inflame acne. The presence of bacteria them self will induce our natural immune system to respond which our body will send white blood cell. Then the with blood cell will produce the enzyme that destroy or damage the wall of follicle. This will resulting in inflammatory respond the account for inflame acne such as cystic acne, pustule and nodule . ("What Causes Acne?", [n.d.])
